No the observers are not connected directly but Javed is spear heading this
movement so I am sure the Secretariate will receive many reports. I am

Alternatively, I would also like to have a peer at the reports from the
observers. Are they formally networking themselves to be observers (like
the way we have electoral observers). Documents and on-the-ground
observations (in the form of documents) often help us bolster our case I

This year we have a lot of disabled activist monitoring elections all
over
India including rural India. Some will have positive reports and some
will
have such negative reports that we will feel that the Supreme Court was
wasting its time. Obviously every booth wont be accessible until the
mindset
changes.We have to keep at it.
First we got to see that all of us vote.
Then we got to work on other disabled. Ensuring that they all go to the
booth.
Every disabled voter is a reporter in his own right.
All negative and positive feedback needs to go to the EC.
I am asking for a copy because we may need to move the Court immediatley
after these elections or just before the next. Some states will go to
the
poll in October.

whole thing. Depending on the permission I may get from my office, I

I hope by now you have complained to the Election Commission. It is
your
right and you know that if we dont complain we wont get anything.
There is a Court order and we are hoping that it gets implemented. If
it
does not get implemented at many booths we could think of contempt of
court.
The idea is not merely to pull up the election Commission but to get
our
rights. so if you havent complained please do so immediatley.
This was an ideal opportunity to create a scene.

Yesterday, casting away my apathy and cynicism, I finally ventured
to
cast
my vote.
Accessibility, as promised and directed by ECI was conspicuous by
its
absence.
No ballot paper/list of candidates with their symbols was available
in
Braille at the polling booth, though I opine that one such list per
booth
is sufficient.
Labeling on EVM was on half of buttons, starting from number 18, on
winch
curiously, there were no representatives to be chosen.
I believe it is the case of accessibility spreading slowly to less
important areas like Nagpur.
Hope our brethren would get accessible polls in Mumbai, Delhi or
other
important cities.
I did report the case to local news papers.
Would complaining to ECI, make a difference in the long run?
I am hearing that poll officials were also blissfully ignorant of
rule
49o
of election conduct rules.
