First of all, I don't think you are asking too many questions. Anyway, it depends upon what you meant when you asked if NVDA is better than JAWS. It depends, for example, on which program, what level of a computer user you are, (i.e. beginner, intermediate or advanced). The link that the other person refered you to (the link that teaches you about object navigation) is one that you might find quite technical if you are a beginner. I am not discouraging you from reading it, though. NVDA provides excellent internet support in Firefox and almost the same level of support with Internet Explorer. MS office support is partial. NVDA does not have any video hooking-a feature JAWS has- which limits NVDA's ability to access parts of other software. In short, NVDA is a good software for casual use with a few more advanced uses; whether or not NVDA is as good as JAWS, is subjective and relative to what you want to get out of it.
