Yes, you can use other TTS if you have them. If you don’t like the default voice, you can first try the different variants of eSpeak from the “Voice setting” Dialogue box found under the NVDA Menu (Insert+N). The only other free TTS voices are Mike and Mary -available from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5E86EC97-40A7-453F-B0EE-6583171B4530&displaylang=en To use these and any other SAPI 5 voices that you may already have with NVDA, you need to change the synthesizer (from eSpeak to SAPI 5) from the “Synthesizer” dialogue box found again under the NVDA menu.
