I use the simple go to dialogue box in excel for selecting multiple cells.
Press ctrl+g and then type in the edit box b1:u1 and hit enter. It will
select the desired cells. For non-contiguous cells use a comma, say for
instance, b1:b4,b8,b12
It works in excel 2003 and 2002. I have not used office 2007 yet.

Dear Sameer,
The option of "Paste Special" in Excel is not available with "Cut"
option. In order to activate this option of Paste Special, one needs
to copy the ranges and not Cut the range.
Once you have copied the cells from A1 to A20 simply go to B1 and
select paste special. During paste special select transpose check box.
Subsequently you can delete the data in A1:A20 range manually.
