Recently, I installed IE 8. But I am facing a strange problem regarding the combobox. When I press alt down arrow to open the combobox, it gets open. But when I press alt up arrow to close it, jaws says close listbox but it does not get close. For that I have to press numpad pluss. Is this problem related with IE8 or it may be any other kind of problem.
Thanks and regards,
Rohiet

Hi,

Firefox is certainly accessible, but more importantly it is also open source.
People behind Mozilla have done a lot to make Mozilla products accessible.
To know more about the work on accessibility at Mozilla, one major blog worth following is that of the Mozilla’s accessibility engineer.

I will just point out 2 interesting posts that he has made.

Now for your questions:

> while browsing through tables using Ctrl+alt+ down
arrow, sometimes it says "bottom of column" though my cursor
is still in the middle of the table and plenty of rows are
there below that.

This has been slightly improved in version 3.6, but as has been already pointed out, refreshing the screen does the work.

> while using tabs, sometimes Jaws doesn't read the
correct tab,

This has been resolved in 3.6

Mr. Srikant,

I second your opinion about IE 8 and I haven't found any
problems
using IE 8 either accessibility wise or stability wise in
IE 8 as of
now (Note that I'm using Jaws 10). Also, when you say that
you are
preferring Firefox over IE, kindly tell me is it completely
accessible
with JAWS as much as IE is, because I have been using
Firefox over a
year now and I personally feel that it is not all that good
while
using it with JAWS, some e.g. which I have experienced
are:
> while browsing through tables using Ctrl+alt+ down
arrow, sometimes it says "bottom of column" though my cursor
is still in the middle of the table and plenty of rows are
there below that.
> while using tabs, sometimes Jaws doesn't read the
correct tab, to simplify I can say: suppose I have three
tabs - google.com,msn.com & yahoo.com and google.com is
the tab which is activated currently Sometimes when I press
ctrl+tab, though firefox shows that the tab has been changed
to the next one i.e. msn.com, but Jaws still doesn't
recognize that and keeps on reading the page at google.com.

I hope I was able to make myself understandable..
