Hello mr. Prashant, First of all, thank you very much for presenting your well tested report on the device ClickScan. Before making the decision whether to go for this device or not, I do have few doubts which I am reproducing below with your comments followed by my queries.
“You need to install this program to operate the device. Without this program also it can be operated with Fine Reader, Open Book or Kurzweil OCR programs. But this way of operation is very very cumbersome and not really useful for mass scanning.” So if I install this program then to what extend this will help to configure this scanner with fine reader/kurzweil? Will my fine reader recognize this scanner as fine reader source or I have to work on it as twain scanner. Suppose, in fine reader tools/options/scanner settings if I uncheck the option not to show this dialog box again then when I open the fine reader next time will this scanner work as default fine reader scanner? 1. “Without any assistive device (screen reader) both in static and video mode or use of this device by a sighted.” What if I use the screen reader in conjuction with this scanner? “These images are stored in c:\program files\i-ball\photos folder.” If I have one folder called my scann in c:\documents and settings\desktop\my documents, and my other combined scanners stores these images in this folder, then can these images be stored by default in these folder or while installing this ClickScan program do I have any option to store the images in the desired location? “Sighted can check the image quality and the focus area as view is shown on the screen.” While inserting the page on the glass of this scanner, do I need to have any sighted person for figuring out the angle of the page? Does the glass extends till the edge of the scanner. “Always default image resolution is 96 dpi which is too less for document scanning.” Is there any way with my screen reader to change this option every time independently from 96 DPI to 300 DPI? 2. Without any assistive device both in static with fine reader “Scanned images can be opened and read in Fine reader. But using fine reader to scan and read is not so good option.” If I scan the image in pdf format, does adobe reader reads this image or do I need to still have any OCR to perform this funtion. “This device uses windows “capture picture to video” dialog which has four buttons and two image preview windows. With capture button you can capture current image. In the right hand side preview you can see all the images including old scanned images. (This is a problem).” What if I move the old scanned images stored to another location before performing the next scan job then will it still show the old images taken? My aforesaid queries may sound to be too basic but your valuable opinion will help me in choosing the right assistive technology with the maximum benefits. I do appreciate for your instant test report which of course, is self-explainatory but still I had few doubts may be out of curiocity to know more about this new innovation. So I do kindly request you to give your few valuable moments to clarify my doubts. Looking forward for your kind reply.
