Hello All,

Yes the question is whether we are properly counted which makes person
anxious about data and there is no harm to ask for it and concerns shown
by list members is genuine.

Regards,

Pankaj Kwatra

census

I had only asked for a rough figure in provisional data, like gender
etc.
I too know detailed data would come next year wherein disabled would
perhaps find due and adequate count.
Had not expected a sermon on conspiracy etc.

Vaanshi
You are absolutely right. All the information will be available next
year.
You will be able to get detailed information including district wise
data on
disability for eg which district in India has the most number of
disabled
females. You will be able to get information on different parameters and
the
cross reference numbers. Some of this data will be online while others
will
be available from the offices of the Census Commission at a cost which
is
not high.

The problem with some of us in this group is that we always think we are
victims of a conspiracy. Sometimes we have problems because of the lack
of
knowledge of others and sometimes we suffer because of other reasons not
being disability.

Please lets analyse the situation, check our facts before jumping to the
conclusion that we have been left out.

Chandra Moily spoke to us in Delhi last year and he was very forthright
about the whole census issue. After the fight in 2001 to be included as
a
question, this time it was only what kind of question and how the
training
should be conducted and how deep will we be able to go in training. In
states where there is a network of NGOs or where there are active
leaders ,
there has been less problems as I have been reading on the list.
Before we advise our friends to go to court or before we think of
complaining lets always examine the facts impartially.
We have not been left out of the Census but I hope we are properly
counted.
Kanchan .

Subject: [AI] Probable reason for not providing disability info in
census

Dear friends,

I have been following the discussion on why the info relating to
disability was not disclosed after the census. While going through an
article of "The Hindu", I came across the following line by Dr.
Chandramouli.

"Provisional population is arrived at by adding
the population as reported by each enumerator, and the final
population data is likely to be released next year," Dr. Chandramouli
told journalists.

This coincides with what Srinivasu has got to know from an employee in
the concerned department. Besides, apart from gender wise and region
wise statistics, no other info has been provided till now. So, it may
take sometime to come up with specific details like caste, religion ,,
income, and, may be disability.

But can someone clarify the above statement? Honestly, I didn't
understand what Dr. Chandramouli meant by provisional data and final
data.
