You must visit Anand Van i.e. Baba Amte's place. I will send you the phone
no. of someone working there. I think Rajesh also knows her.
I have been very interested with the work done there. I think they are doing
something really great.
Also please tell all the visually challenged that after the High Court's
recent orders the visually challenged are going to have technology provided
by the State govt at their work place so they have to learn technology
before they go to the jobs. No more excuses of sitting idle and not being
allowed to do anything.
I have been speaking to organisations around Maharashtra about training but
I dont see much interest maybe because of lack of resources. However there
is no choice and the visually challenged will have to get trained.
Also when you speak to people please emphasise on software like NVDA and
Dolphin and not so much on JAWS.
Whoever had this brilliant idea of going to the interiors of Maharshtra in
peak summer is brave.
Good luck to the team.

Subject: [AI] Awareness building workshop in Vidharba, Maharashtra
Hi all,
We would be visiting Vidharba region in Maharashtra between 16 to 18 May
2011.
Our objectives are:
1. Conduct a day's workshop with blind/low vision people, with the agenda
of raising awareness level on education, career, technology, services,
laws & provisions etc towards enabling them lead a fuller life. As a first
choice, we plan to organise it in Amravati, it being a central place in
the region.
2. We want to know the services available, the achievers in the region,
and others in the sector. So we plan to visit some places in Amravati,
Nagpur, and if possible Akola and Wardha too.
Our friend from Nagpur, Rajesh Asudani is working with us to organise the
workshop, and also has given us few contacts of NGOs & people.
We would be happy to receive inputs from others too from Vidharba. Also do
spread the word among others you think might be interested in the above.
People and organisations interested to meet / attend the workshop can
contact us.
thanks and regards,
Pranay Gadodia | Programme Manager
