I think u want light machine and which could have more backup. If u do not want to go for net book because of various constraints, I would suggest u to go with 12, or 13.3 inches laptop with 9 cell battery, it will give u more back up. for this u can check HP probook and IBM thinkpad. In IBM thinkpad u can find 12 inches laptop with 9 cell battery but the cost will be little higher.
