That's despicable. Sometimes, even after the announcement is made, they fail to come. I was recently traveling from Delhi to Nagpur when nobody came to take me for a good 15 minutes after the announcement for boarding was made. I had to call a local airport attendant whose number I had taken earlier just for such an eventuality. He came and resolved the problem. This can be a nerve-racking experience sometimes.
