HiThe pin connectors are of the AV type the one you use to connectdvd players to TV's.
You can of course connect to any audio systems like Home theaters as well. Not necessary to keep the TV on to listen to the audio. If the settop box supports recording, you can do so on pen drives.ON Dishtv the file system is not compatible with Windows. Which means the recorded programmes cannot be played on Windows system. The Windows system will ask you to format the pendrive.
