Dear Mohit, Most of the Indian Universities directly admit those who passed M.Phil or clear UGC JRF/NET in to Ph.D. course. Further, they conduct eligibility/entrance test particularly in Social Sciences to fill the unfilled vacancies if any. Therefore, I suggest you to prepare for Ph.D. entrance test as well as coming UGC JRF/NET. Moreover, UGC NET is enough to become an assistant professor in any Indian University.
