Dear Friends,
I am very pleased to inform you that Two blind candidates Mr. Bhaskar Maheta
and Mr. Jatin Joshi were appointed as professor in 1975 in Gujarat and 10-12
are working as professor today.
I have started "All Gujarat blind teachers Federation in 1983. and more than
600 blind teachers were working at that time. Recently I have trained more
than 300 blind teachers in computer for CCC and CCC+ examination.
Mr. Bhaskar Maheta was the first blind candidate as commissioner for the
persons with disabilities in Gujarat.
So i don't believe the job opportunities are not available in Gujarat.
With warm regards,
Praful Vyas,

Subject: Re: [AI] Help needed from friends in Gujarat for an article
Well, to point at Avinash bro, its a nice initiative you want to take
in hand by discussing about the empowerment of the visually challenged
of the state from which the political personality contesting to become
the defacto head of the country. as far as my awareness, i have heard
from some of my friends from Gujarat that it is also the same like the
rest of the states in india. just a sympathetic approach, not an
empathetic approach. i personally disappointed from praful sir's reply
as being a person from Gujarat he himself couldn't symbolise the
empowerment of the blind and the disabled in his state. if we mention
just a mere name of a scheme, then we can say India is much better
than the rest of the world in the development of the disabled. every
state has its own schemes for the disabled, but alas most of them
happened to be counterfeit. my observation is, not much improvement in
Gujarat in the part of disabled people's concern. its also 1 among 29
states with sheepish mentality towards the disabled. i heard from one
of my friends from Gujarat that visually challenged people haven't
recognised to be a professer that's why the visually challenged
professers in Gujarat are very less. am not sure of the authentisity
of the above statement, i request you to get it confirmed. finally, a
good effort, my best wishes.
