Yes , it is a  stencil type frame with our chosen letters in the chosen format. 
I spoke to Mr. R. C. Gupta today morning and this is what he told me . As you 
have rightly mentioned one has to keep the frame safely.

If I understand correctly it is a stencil type of guide in which the outline
of our chosen alphabets are provided in a particular design. 
You just run the pen inside it.
It will give perfect results everytime. The guide needs to be kept very safe
however.
