Hi Michael
I have experience with linkage of foxpro(w) and access
but not with CAMS
Is this a foxpro or foxprow or visual foxpro database
?
You have to create an ODBC Datasource for your CAMS as
a first step ( say CAMSODBC : windows, start, set up,
configuration, systemmanagement, ODBC Datasources
,System DNS, Add, select foxpro driver or foxprow
driver (if not available, first download from
microsoft) add datasource name ( say CAMSODBC) and
select the options wanted. From now on your system
will recogize CAMSODBC as a datasource.
I do not understand " In Access I created a new
database file called dbCAMSS " . Is this your ODBC
link at system level ?
In order to make that link you have to have the foxpro
or foxprow drivers installed.
Then you follow as you did before and you will find
after ODBC DATABASES a form where you select the
system ODBC link ( say CAMSODBC )give the options you
want. Maybe you do not have odbc installed at all ?
pls contact for further help on how to link to be able
to edit and update the original file in cams. But lets
first have a link made.
Regards
Dirk

I am trying to link Access with CAMS. (I have the data
on a
separate computer and will use restore from time to
time so I am
never working with my actual data).
I printed the FCSI instructions out and in front of
me. I have
followed them to the letter. I am on "Establishing a
Database
link". In Access I created a new database file (called
dbCAMS), and
go to FILE, GET EXTERNAL DATA, and THEN LINK TABLES. I
change the
FILE TYPE to ODBC DATABASES(), and the screen
disappears. That is
it, nothing more.
Any advice? Did I miss something? I even figured maybe
I have a
slow computer and left it for a awhile (30+ mins), and
still
nothing. I inserted the V5 CD and went to the MASD
version and
installed it, although I new I was up to date. Still
nothing.
dbCAMS is up-to-date
Access is 2003office with Word, Excel and all that
Windows XP and it is up-to-date
Thank you in advance for any advice.
Michael
