Subject: Google Search Engine by E-mail

Lately I find myself using the Google search engine more and more. It
seems to be a somewhat more 'intelligent' search engine than Altavista.

Example:

You want to search for documents about "cats" and "dogs".

Send the following e-mail:

 TO: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
 SUBJ: {You may leave this blank}
 BODY: get http://www.google.com/search?q=%2Bcats+%2Bdogs&num=30&sa=\
       Google+Search

In the above case, Google will send you 30 URLs about "cats" and
"dogs", and it will provide a new string for the next 30 URLs.

Simply replace the words "cats" and "dogs" in the above string by
words of your own choice.

Please don't ask me about other (boolean) search options. I haven't
figured that out yet.

Best regards,

Isn't this in the FAQ???

1: If you can, turn OFF the automatic decoding in outlook. That It can
not handle multi-part files.

2: If you can not turn it off, then you must re-encode part one, then
remove the "end" line (and any after) from that.

3: This will allow you to use any modern decoder to decode the set of
files, (save each to disk, or append them to one file). Note that I sead
any modern decoder. You must do more to use things like Mini UU Decoder.

Hi all,
I finally figured out how to get the webpages by e-mail. Now I have
another problem. I bought a CD-ROM Drive yesterday, but I can't get my
computer to recognize it. After spending 20 mins or so on the phone with
various customer support places, I found out that I need a new mscdex.exe
file because mine wasn't right. Is it possible to receive this from
somewhere or someone if they uuencode it? Bear in mind that I am using
basic Juno mail and I only have MS-DOS 6.2. (Before you tell me to
upgrade, I'll let you know that was part of the reason I bought the CD
drive was so I can get Win 95 from my brother-in-law). If you know of
someplace that might have it, please let me know and how to get it. (I
haven't got this whole ftp by e-mail thing down yet. I just got WWW by
e-mail down pretty good after I found a valid server.)

Also, how do I get off the Digest version of this list and on to the real
time version? Is it possible?

Thanks,

Subject: Off topic - Bill Gates & The Internet

Suddenly: Internet!
by Jerry Thomas ([EMAIL PROTECTED])

Greetings, Fools.

I've been reading a biography of Bill Gates this week.
Published in 1993, the particular book I have in hand
is the story of a remarkable character building his
remarkable company at the center of the computer revolution.
Yet with all the surprising twists and turns leading Microsoft
(Nasdaq: MSFT) and the man behind it to a position of dominance
in the industry, perhaps the most remarkable thing about this
book is that the word Internet does not appear anywhere in the text.
Imagine: implausible as it may seem, just five-and-a-half years ago
it was a perfectly reasonable proposition to write a book about the
history of computing without ever once muttering those now-ubiquitous
syllables, "dot-com."

Bill Gates was famously slow when it came to acknowledging the commercial
potential of cyberspace, but in spite of his legendary perspicacity he can
hardly be blamed for the lapse. To foresee then the world of 1999, with its
Amazons and its Yahoo!s and its E*Trades.......

Not at all. I have unlimited internet access right now and still I'm not

Thanks everybody for their help. I found an excellent service at
www.mailandnews.com

I thought it would be nice to share it with you. Here are some comments
about it (not mine):

--------

MailandNews
Get free web-based or POP3/IMAP mail, check your existing POP3/IMAP email
accounts or access USENET newsgroups. You can store a very generous 10MB of
messages in your account. This service is compatible with Unwired Planet
devices. Support is also provided for HDML, NNTP and phone access to your
email.
User Comments (2 positive, 0 negative):-

April 5, 1999: "I have close to a hundred different [free email] accounts.
Out of every account I have the recently sprung up company Mailandnews.com
beats them all. Their servers are nearly never down and they offer POP and
SMTP access which is also never down and is usually very quick and the same
goes for their web interface. I have claimed them as my e-mail address
because they are so good. Any mail you send or receive is automatically
stored in folders in the web interface regardless of whether it is sent or
received via the web interface or via POP or SMTP . Plus they are about to
introduce mail forwarding as well as autoreply. The service is the absolute
best free service I have seen in 2 and a half years. There is nobody like
them. Plus they give you 10 megs for file attachments or message storage.
Mailandnews.com is highly recommended."

March 14, 1999: "Just wanted to add my 2 cents on MailAnd News.com. Hands
down the best free e-mail service I've ever used. Fast, reliable and very
easy to use."

 --------

What more could I add? This is all true...
