I doubt this is it; but there are two programs I know of that do this. One of them is
SUNDER, and the other one, well.. I can't remember the name.. except it was programmed
by someone here in Oshawa,Ontario.

Use Gopher, and use split=x.
For more information send a email to:

  [EMAIL PROTECTED]

send usenet/news.answers/internet-services/access-via-email

take a look at the Gopher section.

If the file is in a FTP site, use BITFTP.
Send a email with help in the body for more info.
(I'm not sure if it would send you a 25MB file -
try it anyway)

Good luck,

Sen.

}Have a nice day,

}Dan
}
}------------------------------

Let me give you a small clue about how this works:

1: The dates in the subject of the digest are for the list server in US
Eastern time. Currently that is time zone -0400. (Daylight Savings
Time...)

2: According to your time stamp, above, you are in time zone +0300. This
make your time 7 hours LATER than at the list server. Almost 1/3 of a
day. (It would be 8 hours==1/3 day in standard time vs daylight savings
time.)

3: The digests are released by the list server between midnight and one
AM its time. This would be close to 7-8 AM your time.

This only covers SOME of the delay that you noted, so send me, OFF LIST,
the headers of a digest, at least the Received: and Date: headers, and I
will try to annotate them to show the delay(s) in getting to you.

Use a pseudo-anonymous remailer. For a list of them, see my servers

The general format is:

Nope... This is a program that attaches to your web browser.
For more information see: htttp://www.alexa.com/

"Alexa does this with a small program that attaches itself to a user's
browser - the software that allows users to view and retrieve information
from the Web. (Alexa's software, available at www.alexa.com, can be
integrated with Microsoft's Internet Explorer 4.0 and will be part of the
next version of Netscape's Navigator browser.)"

You cannot do it by gophermail methods. The only servers that allow
retrieving parts of missing messages are those ftpmail servers that support
parts. See the listing FTPMAIL BY PARTS in my servers listing:
http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/1236/servers.html

The www4mail servers also allow retrievals by parts:
GETPART 1, 2 3 , 5-8 (use one option line only!)
GETSIZE 10000 (use one option line only!)

Subject: turning Usenet into a listserv

Hello, I have a problem I am hoping you can help with, or you know someone
who can.

There are certain moderated Usenet groups that post hourly/daily/weekly. I
would like to automatically access these groups and get their most recent
postings by e-mail-- basically turning certain Usenet groups into a
personal listserv.

It seems I should be able to write a brief UNIX routine that queries my
NNTP server at specified times to get the most recent update. The routine
could live on the same server as my mail and news service. My ISP
administrator says he'll put a script up for me but doesn't have time or
inclination to write it, and I admit I am not the most brilliant UNIX coder
out there.

Have you ever seen such a script or know where one can be found? Or, is
there a better solution? I've searched all over the net for something off
the shelf. Seems like the instructions for doing this would be a nice
addition to the FAQ.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks!

Usually, the searching of Web databases requires you to fill HTML forms
on-line. If you get pages containing HTML forms as an attachment, then
these can be filled in and sent from your Web browser. POST, GET and
ISINDEX types of search are fully supported.

To search using any of such forms, follow these steps:

Ask www4mail for the page containing the form to be sent as an attachment;
(such as http://www.hotbot.com or http://www.altavista.com).
Fill out any of the available inputs boxe selecting any of the available
checkbox buttons in the page. Select the `search' button usually attached
to the form.

Note that if you retrieve the SOURCE of a Web page containing HTML forms
via www4mail, the requested document will be sent to you unmodified in the
body of a message and you will not be able to search using www4mail.

You could do this with the Cern Line-mode browser and with
cron, but why not go one better and install an Agora server
to serve your locality. I can send you the Perl code and
if you have Expect and the line mode browser you will have
everything you need. (Expect is optional -- it makes the
        queue less likely to "stick").

this would save him the bother, and it is pretty well tested.

Reference.COM Help on E-Mail Access

This page describes how to use the Reference.COM e-mail query service. With
it, you can submit queries and receive the results via e-mail-- instead of
a Web browser. It can also function as a "clipping" service which
automatically monitors the conversation in myriad collaborative forums and
alerts you by email when a topic of interest is discussed.

}
}Hi Everybody
}I have 2 questions:

I do not know the answer to #1 off hand, so I will skip down to:

}2.Is there any way to get the postings from a "Majordomo"
}mailing list in digested format? I've requested the "help"
}file from some of this type of the lists and found nothing.

The majordomo servers that support digest/nodigest versions of lists, do
it by running two lists with the same content. One being individual
messages, the other being digests. Postings to one appear on both.

Use the command that shows lists on the server (lists ???) to see if
there is a digest version of the list that you are interested in. If
there is, then you can subscribe to that and unsubscribe from the other.

}Does anyone know of a freeware that
}joins files that come in parts?
}
}My version of dos says "bad command or
}file name" when I try 'join'.
}

The DOS "join" command, works on directories, not files, for versions of
MS-DOS that still have it.

If what you want to do is append files together, then you can use the
COPY command:
        copy file1 + file2 + file3 ... destination

A variation that will sometimes work, but MAY put the parts in the wrong
order, is:
        copy nul + file* destination

(nul is a bit bucket device: zero byte file on read, ignores data on
write.)

For 12 parts named file01 to file12, when the above would put them out of
order, two lines:

copy file01 file
for %f in (02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12) do copy file + file%f file

Variations of this last method are common, but double the percent ('%')
signs if used in a batch file.

For more info on COPY, type HELP COPY at the DOS prompt.

If your reason for this is to join UU encoded parts, then you likely need
to edit the result, or better, use a decoder that can deal with multiple
parts in multiple files.

You are trying to do two separate searches simultaneously. What you really
are looking for is "white cats" then a search for "black dogs". So what you
are recieving is anything with white, black, cats, dogs which is a lot of
web pages that don't meet your needs.

If you were looking for black and white cats or black and white dogs you
would be better off. Then the searches would look like:
1. (black OR white) AND cats
2. (black OR white) AND dogs

You could also do two searches as follows:/
1. +white +cats
2. +black +dogs
