In case it is UUEncoded parts that you want to join (and they are in the
body of the messges) sometimes there is an old simple and fast way to do
this (it depends on your mailer program):

1. Create a new folder/mailbox in your mail program, e.g. PROG

2. Copy all the UUEncoded messages in their appropriate
order to the respective folder (-->PROG)

3. Open File Manager/Windows Explorer/My Computer/whatever and find
the program folder for your mailer program;
locate the respective MBX file -- PROG.MBX and copy it to another directory.

4. Rename the file from PROG.MBX to PROG.UUE and double-click it.
If you have Winzip 6/7 it will be automatically UUdecoded and consequently
UNZIPped (if it was a ZIP, GZIP, GZ, HQX or other archive). If you do not
have WinZip you can still try your favorite UUdecoder (good ones are able to
decode the file even if it has garbage lines, the way WinZip does).

This works with quite a few mailers and is especially convenient when you
have hundreds of parts.

There are also some mailers (e. g. Netscape Mail) that can save all the
selected files to one single file which can be later decoded in the same way.

Subject: Problems with accmail?

Hi,

I have an e-mail only account with my ISP. I am using Eudora Light (1.5.4).
I can send mail ok. The problem is that when I get my mail, it downloads the
mail to my computer and sometimes the modem disconnects for no apparent reason
and when I then redial to get the rest of my mail it downloads the last file
I got when the modem disconnected and the modem disconnects again.

I hope that makes some sense.

The ISP have deleted the problem message(s?) but it still occurs occasionally.
Brett at the ISP sent me the following message.

====================== Message Begins ========================================

Hi Chris

I've deleted your problem mail message - as you will have guessed :)

The mesage that hangs is always the one from the AOL listerv and it is
generating an EOF
("end of file") message, which causes the mailer to think the download is
over and so the modem
disconnects.

Why? Good question, and the short answer is I don't know. Several ideas though.

The most obvious is that 'qpopper' (a mail server daemon) has a know bug in
the way it locks mail
files while they are being read. But this error generally generates a
"lock.file" error and you are
getting an EOF message, and the locked file clears itself in about 45
minutes. This doesn't go away,
right?

EOF errors are sometimes caused by binary data being included in the body
of the email, and as this
always happens with mail from the same source, I suspect this might be it.
It might be worth
unsubscribing from (or not using) the AOL source for a while and see if it
fixes the problem.

Other than that, we have had some success with killing chickens ...

Brett

=============================== Message ends ===================================

I am using a Mac SE/30 running system 7.5.1

I would like to get this sorted out without having to unsubscribe from ACCMAIL,
any help at all would be appreciated.

Thanks, I appreciate the help ACCMAIL gives to us email only users.
Chris.

Unfortunately, Gerry, this doesn't seem to be SO true any more.
I've been using [EMAIL PROTECTED] for years and now it doens't seem to work
any more (or in a VERY limited way).
I got back any kind of errors.
I wrote to the support center and got no answer.
At the moment I see no similar services available.

ciao and thanks for your contributions,

Giovanni from Milan

}Actually you should use the /b switch to force binary mode.
}And -IF- all the files were created in order, you may issue the
}command as follows:
}
}COPY/B GAME.PA* GAME.ZIP
}

1: For all versions of MS-DOS that I have seen, /b is the default.

2: For most versions, the above would not work as intended. There must
be one + sign, or it would copy each file to that .zip, on top of, not
appending to, each other.

copy /b nul + game.p* game.zip

should work.
