To all those who responded to my, hehe 'call for help' I would really
like to thank you! I haven't tried using bellanet again, yet, but if I'm
gonna 'browse' the web again, I will. Thanks!! =) I've content myself
with unganisha.idrc.ca for a while now, not as fast as bellanet, but
so-so. I'm glad my favorite www4servers back!! =)

Subject: UUdecoding of binary file AGORA.BIN
I requested a PDF file through AGORA. I recieved a file called AGORA.BIN
with the message that
" You requested a binary file. It has been uuencoded
to be sent through mail . You will need to uudecode it "
I use the UUdecode in Winzip 6.3 and as recommended I renamed the file as
Agora.UUE and asked win zip to open it. I get the message "Invalid Archive
Directory - Press F1 for help"
The winzip help message shows that the archive is corrupted.
Can any one help me with undecoding this UUE file sent as AGORA.BIN by
AGORA. I have no internet access and therefore no possibility of downloading
any program files.
thanks and regards
Tariq

Subject: Text & Email based Internet surfing & downloading.
Can anyone suggest any text only browsers I can use to supplement my
netbyeml skills.
I'm game for either MS-DOS or Win3.x+ or later ones. I'm not picky.
I have a limited time web access via a Juno Web trail period (thru June
15) and am looking for programs I can use to get files sent to me via
Email. I have access to my library Email Internet account via entering
the POP info etc.. into Outlook Express 5.0.
Would like to use services and utilities that can send files to the
Outlook account via attachments or in line encoding.

-rwxr-xr-x 1 ftpuser ftpusers 2456352 May 6 21:28 IPESetupNT.exe
(This is the new free antivirus program from Computer Associates)
My questions:
- Why was ASCII mode used when I had specified binary mode?
- The file size as per dir listing is 2289912 bytes, but 2298514 bytes were
retrieved! Why the discrepancy?
- I received the file uuencoded in 32 parts. After combining and decoding
using uudeview, I get an executable (IPESETUP EXE 2,298,514 bytes), which
when run, terminates with:
"This program cannot be run in DOS mode." (after launching a DOS box).
What gives? I guess I could try other means/servers for retrieving the
file, but I'd like to know if there's a bug in the ftpmail server.

Because you used the word MIME

Header and footer of uuencoded file. CR-LF combinations from LFs only
> "This program cannot be run in DOS mode." (after launching a DOS box).
It's a Win 95 program so of course you cannot execute it in DOS.
All Win 3.x/95/98/NT programs say this.
Browse any Windows executable file and you will see"
"This program requires Microsoft Windows." on line 6 and 7
OR
"This program cannot be run in DOS mode" on line 1 and 2
OR
"This is a Windows self-extracting ZIP file. You can run it from
Windows or unzip it with a utility like WinZip or PKUNZIP" on lines 3-5

Spin
