Subject: agora playing up?

Gidday all,

I normally use [EMAIL PROTECTED] to retrieve my docs. The latest docs I
have rec have either been reported as "there are no references from this ..."
or that it is empty. I rec heaps saying that there is a problem with the
cache ...

I also noticed in FTPMail, Agora, etc. statistics dated Tue, 26 Oct 1999 that
[EMAIL PROTECTED] was not mentioned in the stats.

Is this normally reliable server having probs?

See ya later.
Chris.

Gidday all,

I am noticing an increasing number of questions that seem adequately
answered in the FAQ.

Subject: Download Slave - URL Requester Program totally in German

Dear Johannes and all the other listers,

Thanks for your information on the English .dat file. I have called for
the file through download slave itself. Will inform when i got back. But
another problem I sent along with my earlier posting was perhaps edited by
Mr Boyd for repetition. I post hereunder the same for your clarification.

In continuation to my earlier message, I tried urlrequester by giving my
mail server name and the password in the "remember password" column (I
figured it out somehow!@!)

When I clicked on the first icon available on the toolbar, which I suppose
is the "Send" button, it tried to connect to www.downloadslave.com, which I
cannot do from my system since I do not have a internet connection. Also
after that windows reported a fatal error and I had to hardboot my machine.
What's the problem with this program. Why does this connect to the
internet when I am giving only an e-mail message ? Kindly clarify.

Azeem.

Subject: G-Unzipping problems

I had received a Gzipped file from the bitftp server at
pucc.princeton.edu( in 21 chunks). The file is simply not getting
unzipped. The "file" command shows it to be "gzip compressed data" and
even the file size is in confirmity with the actual file size.
CAN ANYBODY suggest a remedy
( i have tried gunzip on solaris as well as on Linux).

Subject: Internet connection to use URLrequester to Downloadslave.

Dear Johannes and all the other listers,

Thanks for your information on the English .dat file. I have received the
file from downloadslave and it is very perfect except for one window
showing the "Status of requests", the buttons are still in German.

The first button the toolbar which is the "Send" button, the tool tip
shows that you must have a internet connection. That is unfair to ACCMail
practices. This will not at all be useful to users like me who have only
e-mail connection. Kindly clarify.

Azeem.

Subject: Help File for Widow Remailer X-no-archive:yes

Dear Fellow Accmailers:

I'm calling for some help or correction about how to receive the Help File
for the Type-1 Cypherpunk anonymous remailer whose e-mail address is:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
The definitive list for the Type-1 and Type-2 remailers states that Widow is
a hybrid remailer; I don't know exactly what that is supposed to mean.
In any case, I've tried several times to obtain the remailer's Help File and
I haven't received it. My request syntax was:

TO: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
SUBJECT: remailer-help
BODY: [Nothing put here]

This is the syntax as I read it in Gerald Boyd's section on anonymous
remailers at his Web site.
I await instruction from anyone who can show me the right way to obtain the
help file.

                                       Sincerely,

Subject: help on gb's search engine faqs

Lots of thanks to Mr boyd for the faqs.

I need some more info as detailed below;
----------------------------------------------
             ALTAVISTA SEARCH ENGINE
line 130
Advanced search - first 10 matches
    http://www.altavista.com/cgi-bin/query?pg=aq&kl=XX
      &r=spam&q=+&d0=+&d1=+
line 166
  Query:
&r= (selection criteria with AND, OR, NOT and NEAR - leave
blank if none)
line 491
&q=%28Mary+NEAR+lamb&29+AND+NOT+contrary
line 509
Example: &q=%28apple+OR+pear%29+AND+%28tart+OR+pie%29

should the search word be at &r OR &q ?

-----------------------------------------------------------------

                      SWITCHBOARD SEARCH ENGINE
line53 >For residential listings.............
line57 > For advanced expanded listings
what are the search strings for the two ?

the examples need a town/city/state in USA.
what are the search strings for all countries (including USA)?
      (global search)
----------------------------------------------------

                       WEBCRAWLER SEARCH ENGINE
line 65
Title Searches return..........
Summary searches return.........
what are the strings for these two ?
--------------------------------------------------

                         DOGPILE SEARCH ENGINE
line 121
you must receive the search results in HTML format
line 135
You can retrieve the web page results in non-HTML format and
then check a box and re-send the entire document back to getweb to
should it be html or non-html ?
     will non-html give a check box ?
--------------------------------------------------------

                         HOTBOT SEARCH ENGINE

line 52
HotBot allows you to limit your searches by document date,
geographic
region or even by domain (search only documents within 'intel.com'
or
'.edu'), search for pages with Shockwave, Java, or other plug-ins.

Could you please provide an example of a complete search
string for this for hotbot ** as also other search engines**?
(for example, what should be the search string to find "satellite
images" in the .gov domain ?)

        regards

                                  dilip

Thanks.

Yes, it's free.
If you use it under Win9x it is better to use it combined with Ghostview.
The combination of Ghostview and ghostscript is archived into the
following file:
ftp://ftp.cs.wisc.edu/ghost/aladdin/gs550/gsv27550.exe
