Dear Friends,

I am a longtime 4D developer with minimal web experience. I have used WebBuddy4D with some success to get 4D data published. However, my next project is going to require a much higher capability of integrating 4D and internet access. Thus I have come to Active4D. So far so good.

In the Release Notes Read Me file of Active4D v.4.x it states, "Learn Fusebox and start using it." I prefer to develop in OS X on a Mac. Here is the rookie question: Is Fusebox available for OS X? I have spent a number of hour researching the product and am still not sure. Is there a website you could point me to where I can get good information on Fusebox & OS X so that I can develop in Active4D more efficiently? Thank you in advance for sharing both your expertise and your patience!

Best!
Kirk

Kirk,

Fusebox is not a product but a methodology. Its an architecture that is based on a consistent framework. It has it roots in the ColdFusion world, but can and has been applied to other popular web development environments such as Active4D, PHP, and ASP.

In some ways you can think of it as a web shell, somewhat akin to what Foundation is for 4D.

Fusebox is platform independent.

Check out http://www.fusebox.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=fusebox.faq.

The fusebox.org site leans heavily towards Coldfusion, but can give you an idea about what fusebox is. There are a number of books on the subject. Have a look on amazon.com.

Aparajita will chime in with more info, but I know he's teaching a Fusebox session at the upcoming Summit and believe he's working on a new Active4D Fusebox demo.
