Welcome! I'm glad you made it here.
In the Release Notes Read Me file of Active4D v.4.x it states,
"Learn Fusebox and start using it." I prefer to develop in OS X on
a Mac. Here is the rookie question: Is Fusebox available for OS X?
The first thing to learn about Active4D is this:
- When in doubt, *search* the PDF documentation by entering some
search terms (don't just scan over it manually).
- If you don't find what you are looking for, try revising your search.
- Read carefully whatever hits are returned.
- If you can't find what you are looking for in the documentation,
search the mailing list archives at http://www.mail-archive.com/
active4d-dev%40aparajitaworld.com/.
- If you simply can't find what you are looking for, then we are
happy to help you here.
All that might seem like a lot, but it probably takes less than 15
minutes, which is less time than it takes to type your question for
the mailing list and then wait for an answer.
The Active4D documentation now weighs in at over 500 pages. There is
surprisingly little traffic on this list, hopefully because I spent
so much time documenting Active4D that most questions are answered
there.
Now back to your question. A search of "fusebox" in the Reference
Manual very quickly reveals an entire section of the documentation
devoted to Active4D's implementation of fusebox. I highly recommend
reading it.
Next week I hope to get a skeleton fusebox sample site up for those
who want to get the most out of fusebox with v4. In the meantime, you
should order and start reading one or both of these books:
Discovering Fusebox 3 with ColdFusion, by Hal Helms
Fusebox: Developing ColdFusion Applications, by Jeff Peters and Nat
Papovitch
Don't be scared away by the ColdFusion stuff, it is incidental to how
fusebox itself works.
