Because I've been using BBEdit for a number of years, prefer the configuration and layout, and am a "keystroker" (preferring and finding it a lot quicker to use keyboard shortcuts than a mouse to get around). Also find it marginally quicker than the Java app, which doesn't make a lot of difference per script, but loads when spending 70 hours a week in there :-) I suppose it depends on your background: if you've come from Java coding on a PC to this, then it would probably be more familiar. I just don't have the time or inclination to switch from BBEdit and learn a whole new environment from the ground up, particularly when it appears to hinder those who prefer not using a mouse.

Regards
Mark

I find it more efficient to code in BBEdit than in jEdit, for now.

How come?
