It is, but if you are using ISO Latin 1 exclusively (which you probably should), make sure you configure the platform charset accordingly.
And is it possible to change the encoding of a batch of scripts without going through them manually, one by one, in BBEdit?
You should be able to script BBEdit to do it with AppleScript.
