Because I've been using BBEdit for a number of years, prefer the configuration and layout, and am a "keystroker"

I used BBEdit for years as well.

Unlike BBEdit, _everything_ in jEdit can be assigned the keystroke of your choice. Every menu item, every edit action, everything. It is very keyboard-centric if you want it to be.

if you've come from Java coding on a PC to this, then it would probably be more familiar.

Like I said, I came from BBEdit.

I just don't have the time or inclination to switch from BBEdit and learn a whole new environment from the ground up, particularly when it appears to hinder those who prefer not using a mouse.

It's hardly a whole new environment. It might take a few days to get used to, but once you do you will have full syntax hilighting of your code (HTML and Active4D).
