1) Have a process watch the upload folder for new files and move them into into WebSTAR (or Apache's) web root? Having not done that am I going to run into permissions problems?

If my memory serves me right, you have to set the permissions for the uploaded files to '-rwxr-xr-x' (chmod 755) to be able to serve them.

Jörg,

Thanks for that advice.

I may have come up with a simpler solution to this problem that appears to work. I created a symbolic link "docs" within the WebSTAR web root that points to the uploads folder within my Active4D web root.

Therefore if a document is uploaded to /web/uploads/2006/08/test.doc, WebSTAR will serve http://www.mysite.com/docs/2006/08/test.doc.

This seems like the simplest solution. Can others comment about any caveats - security or otherwise - to this approach?

Thanks,

Brad
