I'd like to know how other developers are setting of their development
environment with 4D and Active4D. We are struggling to come up with a
best practice for code development between multiple developers on a
client-server 4D system with A4D.

We want to use Subversion, for instance, but the maintenance on the
code is difficult because all the files are actuall on the 4D server
machine. So we have 2 developers running Macs that use 4D client
2004.4 to connect to a Mac 4D server running A4D. When we're working
on the A4D code, one cannot just checkout the latest and develop,
because the code has to be checked out on the 4D Server, then hosted
as a fileshare (?) so the developers can work on it. Then to checkin,
again, work on the server, to update the revisions. Seems like a lot
of work.

I'm interested in others sharing their perspectives and developer
configurations. Do others use Subversion on a hosted machine, as a
shared project? How about a web interface to subversion? Has anyone
tried to store 4D structure files in subversion? (we have and it was
dreadfully slow because of the binary configuration, I think).

Thanks,

Michael Check
