Well, for one - -sooner or later - there will be no official support (tech/updates
etc) for 9x and NT4. That's not going to happen tomorrow - but it will
2. Some people have begun to code applications/websites that will not function
properly with a 9x or NT4.0 box
3. I don't know how large/small a shop you work in but remote help in XP Pro can save
you (or your helpdesk people) going to your individual users workstations to help them
with an issue they are having with their system.

Just my two cents

Subject: [ActiveDir] Legacy Computers in AD

I have a mixed mode of computers in my current domain (Windows 98, Windows
NT 4.0 workstations). We are planning to upgrade to W2K/W3K, still not sure
with which Windows server version to go with, and need to know what is
gained by upgrading my clients to W2K Pro or XP Pro. What is the benefit to
upgrading all my clients' comps to W2K Pro/XP Pro as opposed to leaving my
current comps with legacy software?
Thanks.
