If security is an issue for your shop you should make the move to XP
(considering the fact that your working for a bank I asume this is an
issue?). If you need to maintain some legacy clients in your environment for
the sake of some prehistorical applications you should at least implement
the DS Client on these legacy machines to provide an acceptable level of
security/interoperability between your server and client machines (be sure
to ask MS for the newest version which contains some bugfixes!).

Another important issue for me is the stability of the new platform.
Comparing the stability of Windows 98 with Windows XP is like undergoing a
timewarp to another dimension ...

Yet another issue I ran into is the fact that new hardware doesn't support
95 (/98) anymore. So that might be important to. If you have a problem with
a driver or something ... Forget about support! However, I've seen customers
saying ... "hey, things are running perfectly well right now, why change a
winning team?".

Cheers!
John

Subject: [ActiveDir] Legacy Computers in AD

I have a mixed mode of computers in my current domain (Windows 98, Windows
NT 4.0 workstations). We are planning to upgrade to W2K/W3K, still not sure
with which Windows server version to go with, and need to know what is
gained by upgrading my clients to W2K Pro or XP Pro. What is the benefit to
upgrading all my clients' comps to W2K Pro/XP Pro as opposed to leaving my
current comps with legacy software?
Thanks.
