I just went through this little exercise upgrading from win2k to windows
2003. Our forest pdc emulator couldn't talk out to an external source
until we put timeserver.domain.com,0x8 behind it. Here is an
article that explains this.

I know this is a silly question but I am a little confused about the
time
server (NTP) configuration in AD. I found the following commands to
configure a time server in AD:

Net Time /Setsntp:<servername>
W32tm /Config /manualpeerlist

What is the difference between the W32tm and Net Time command? Can I
use
either of these commands to configure a time source in AD and sync with
an
external time server? Do I need to manually sync the time on all the
DCs
with the PDC emulator's time or will the DC automatically contact the
PDC
emulator for the time sync?

Thanks in advance!
