I think it is cool that they have the new tool. But it does bring a gripe up
I have with the command line tools.
Leave the old parameter systems in place and introduce new tools. This way
if you know how to do it the old way then when you sit down at the new
system you can still do it. It seems like MS said, no one is using this
stuff so we will just change it to what we want because they will use it now
because we now think command line is cool. Also it doesn't break quite as
many scripts this way...
TLIST and KILL piss me off pretty good... TASKLIST and TASKKILL and both are
a pain in the tush. Plus how do you do tree view with TASKLIST?
W32tm. Another example. Have an old command line fart mode darnit. :o) What
is the replacement for w32tm /v /once btw...

"Much to my dismay" ???
GPUpdate works like a charm and is much less to type! So I've been more
than happy with it for quite a while now (and 'much to my dismay' I still
have to use the old method on some 2k boxes ;-))

Subject: [ActiveDir] FYI - forcing a policy refresh in Windows 2003
Just a little FYI note for those who may be starting to work with Windows
2003 domains. If you remember under Windows 2000, when you made a group
policy change you could enforce it immediately using the /refreshpolicy
switch on the secedit command. Much to my dismay I found out this morning
that doesn't work under Windows 2003 - they've replaced that switch with the
GPUpdate.exe command line utility.
For more information on how to use the GPUpdate, check out Microsoft's KB
article here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=298444
