Web Root Spy Sweeper is an interesting product, I saw a demo and it
looked pretty good. There is an enterprise version. The next version of
Symantec Corporate Edition AV due in March is supposed to have a lot
more detection and removal. In the meantime....
Symantec CE 9 - configured to delete what it can and log the rest. We
can then atleast get to the machines before the users complain.
Custom scripts - delete the contents of "Document and
Settings\userprofile\localsettings\temp". In our environment the
majority of the spyware was copied there and executed from there. We
first ran it via SMS at night and now in the login scripts on a daily
basis. It has worked well for us.
XP SP2 - Pop-up blocker and patched vulnerabilities have reduced the
impact but we don't have it on enough machines yet to make a big
difference.

Subject: [ActiveDir] Stopping Pop-Ups and Spyware Enterprise wide
What are all of the the hard core administrators out there doing about
the pop-ups and spyware? I need a good enterprise wide solution.
