Hello,
Some additional info would be helpful (OS on your DC's,
functional level, etc....).
One of the contraints with renaming domains is you have to have the same number of domains in the forest in the end that you started out with. The way I read the question, you currently have 2 seperate domains you need to merge into a parent/child relationship. It seems to me you would want to create a new xyz.com domain as a child of the abc.com domain, and use the Active Directory Migration Tools (ADMT) to migrate the objects from the old xyz.com to the new child xyz.com domain. Hope that helps, Tim From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jaspreet Singh Jolly Sent: Saturday, October 01, 2005 7:43 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [ActiveDir] Domain Rename Issue Hi All,
We have two Domains.
1) ABC.com
2) XYZ.com
I have been given a task to either Migrate all the
users of XYZ.com to ABC.com or somehow make XYZ.com a child domain of
ABC.com.
Can we use "Domain Rename" utility to Rename
XYZ.com to "Child.ABC.com" and create a trust rlationship between
these.
Regards,
Jaspreeet
