I haven't seen it work that way for GP-deployed apps. You
need to proactively do a "re-deploy" on the package to trigger
that.

would he do that? The MSI is on the share for the GPO either directly or as the
result of an administrative install. The correct procedure is to apply the patch
to the distribution point with msiexec and I believe the /p switch and then Use
the redeploy option by right clicking the app in the gpo it was deployed via.
