Am I reading this right, that you changed the MAC addresses on both
NIC's (swapped 'em) or just changed the TCP/IP settings?
Yes, I switched the cables to the NICs, and then reversed the TCP and other settings.

Also to clarify, the server is resolving the internal IP via DNS
correctly, and you can access the box via the internet on the external
IP... But internally you can't browse to the server? Have I understood
your problem?
From a workstation, I can ping the server using its name, or IP address. From the outside world, I can also see the server via IP address, but outside DNS hasn't updated yet, so by name from outside is still going to the old address. Internally, using normal network protocols, I see nothing of the server, AD, or anything.
