There's no way a GIF/JPEG/PNG can really hurt you to my knowledge and anyone that opens anything like a PIF/SCR/EXE file in an email should be shot. It wouldn't hurt to remove all attachments that fall into the latter category just to help the challenged. Personally, I almost never use attachments in the list - I usually just cut-n-paste into the body, but on occasion I'll attach a script or two. If you have the option of attaching 'inline' rather than as an 'attachment', that makes it easier to preview the data and to use cut-n-paste at the receiving end rather than saving to a file if you wish. Some selective attachment removal wouldn't bother me. Image files might be useful when including a pop-up or some such - maybe BMP in addition to GIF/JPEG/PNG.
