Is what you are trying to map to on your local network?
There is more help if you type in net use /? at a command prompt.
The mapping will appear in the My Computer window as a disk with a network
connection symbol.
This drive is visible from the whole computer, i.e. word command line, ftp,
etc.

hi alex,

just looked up mapping a drive in the w2k help - it was a bit vague!

gonna have a look around on the web for instructions on how to do this.
had been using 'add network place' to bring the database folder in as a
ftp folder but it wont let me name it up as you suggested.

so will this basically appear as a network drive that the whole pc can
see??

cheers,

jake
