Sorry, I thought that your answer was rather snotty. If you can find what you want for $50-$100 - and I'm not saying you can't - then but it. The buy it vs. write it yourself question is a non-issue to me. It's sort of like asking which is the better color, green or blue. It would depend on who you are and what you're doing.
But if you're going to ask a question of this list, be considerate of the people who respond. Sarcastic responses to people who are trying to help are not appreciated. Until the possibility of your writing a log analyzer yourself was made, no one could know if that was as reasonable option for you. It isn't, and that's all that needed to be said.
