Heather:

Although UND does not have a specific policy addressing bystander intervention,
it is briefly touched on in a Clery policy (see Security Awareness and Crime
Prevention Programs for Students and
Employees<http://und.edu/finance-operations/_files/docs/6-11-security-awareness-crime-prevention-programs.pdf>).

Separately, UND launched Green
Dot<http://und.edu/student-affairs/dean-of-students/green-dot/what-is-green-dot.cfm>
this fall semester, a comprehensive approach to the primary prevention of
violence that capitalizes on the power of peer and cultural influence across
all levels of the socio-ecological model (aka bystander intervention).

Hope that helps.

Subject: [acupa-l] Bystander intervention - policy or not

Good morning,

I hope this message finds everyone well and enjoying the beginning of Fall.

I had a discussion this morning with a colleague from Equal Opportunity
Services. They are trying to determine if a policy on bystander intervention
(which is a student initiative here) is feasible. My initial stance is that I
don't immediately see this as a stand-alone policy topic, but rather something
that can be addressed in a Code of Ethics policy.

Anyone tackled this one yet?

Best,
Heather
