Good Afternoon Theresa,
This is the Directory Information section from our FERPA policy. I only copied
and pasted the section you requested but provided the link for the entire
policy.

Directory Information
The college may make the following directory information available to the
public unless the student notifies the registrar in writing by the end of the
first week of the term that such information is not to be made available:
1. Student's name
2. Date of birth
3. Address
4. Major field of study or program
5. Dates of enrollment
6. Degrees, diplomas, or certificates received
7. College honors

The college designates the following categories of student information as
"limited-use directory information":
1. Students' college-issued electronic mail addresses
2. Photographs, videos, or other media containing a student's image or
likeness
As designated limited-use directory data, this information will not be provided
to external parties not contractually affiliated with the college. Use and
disclosure of this information shall be limited to (a) publication on websites
hosted by, on behalf of, or for the benefit of the college; (b) publication in
print for purposes including but not limited to college marketing, public
relations, outreach, and press releases; at college events including but not
limited to athletic events, college fairs and open houses, student organization
activities, campus atmosphere, etc. (c) college officials who have access,
consistent with FERPA, to such information and only in conjunction with a
legitimate educational interest; and (d) external parties contractually
affiliated with the college, including official third party vendors and partner
institutions with a joint memorandum of understanding.
Any release of student information for public use or use by the media, except
for the specified directory information and limited-use directory information
detailed above, must have the prior written approval of the student(s) involved.

Subject: Images in directory information

Hi,

Our FERPA policy includes "photographic and electronic images" as directory
information.

A student filed a Freedom of Information Act request for surveillance camera
video that was captured on a specific date and time range. The camera is
located on the first floor and is pointed at a door that enters the stairwell.
Apparently student congress campaign banners located in this area were ripped
down. The student submitting the FOIA request feels he knows who the
responsible person(s) is/are and would like to confirm through the video. Our
Legal Affairs area determined that the surveillance video would be turned over.
It was never our intent that surveillance videos for criminal activities would
be used in this way.

We are now reviewing our Directory Information. Would you mind sharing your
language regarding photos?
