Goo morning….The University of California is currently vetting a systemwide
drone policy. It was promulgated by the Environmental Health Services division
of Risk Services. Risk Services at the Office of the President funds a Center
for Excellence on drone research at one of our campuses. The drone policy
won’t be finalized until March and then it will be posted on our policy website.

Hi Deena,

Princeton has a drone policy covering the use on campus (freshly approved),
though we are still in the process of putting it online. It is co-managed by
the research office, environmental health and safety, and public safety. The
three of us serve as the review and approval committee, pulling in others when
appropriate. As a temporary solution, I manage the day to day business involve
drone use. We haven’t solved the staffing issue yet (part-time, full-time, or
where that person will sit). Also, we have a sUAS advisory committee, which has
broad representation from administrative units on campus.

Subject: [acupa-l] Drone questions

Good afternoon,

Curious if you have a Drone policy, which division is it under (Finance and
Administration, Research, etc) and if you have a part time or full time
employee assigned to management/coordination of monitoring drones on campus.
Also, do you have a committee that approves use of drones? If so, what is the
composition of committee? Thank you!

V/r,
Deena
