We do not currently have such a policy either but just started a project this week to author a policy on conflicts of interest in the procurement/bidding processes at our university. Related policies we have at this time are specific to research investigators and human subjects.

Speaking generally, this subject would be covered in our University Policy 4.6, Standards of Ethical Conduct, available at https://www.dfa.cornell.edu/policy/policies/standards-ethical-conduct. We are wondering if other institutions' have policies pertaining to internal conflicts of interest (i.e. when one budget unit may have a relationship with another budget unit, that may cause the actual or appearance of a conflict of interest). By way of example (not a real situation currently), a coach is scheduling a conference during which lunch will be served by University Food Services and the coach offers tickets to a game to the person writing the contract for a reduced rate for the luncheon. Any policy examples dealing with this type of situation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mindy Leadership is the ability to inspire creativity, emphasize ingenuity, and encourage collaboration while remaining respectful, compassionate, and gracious. Mindy A.
