Mindy: UND is in the same boat as the others that have responded. We do not have a policy that addresses internal conflicts of interest.
All the best, JEN Jennifer Rogers Special Projects Assistant to the VPFO Office of the Vice President for Finance and Operations University of North Dakota Twamley Hall, Room 314 264 Centennial Drive Stop 8378 Grand Forks, ND 58202-8378 O 701.777.3511 | D 701.777.4392 F 701.777.4082 [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> | UND.edu/finance-operations<http://www.UND.edu/finance-operations> From: Barnett, Mindy [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, February 22, 2017 1:08 PM Subject: Internal Conflict of Interest Policies Good Afternoon, Penn State University has several policies dealing with Conflicts of Interest between University employees and vendors, groups, and/or individuals external to the University. We are wondering if other institutions' have policies pertaining to internal conflicts of interest (i.e. when one budget unit may have a relationship with another budget unit, that may cause the actual or appearance of a conflict of interest). By way of example (not a real situation currently), a coach is scheduling a conference during which lunch will be served by University Food Services and the coach offers tickets to a game to the person writing the contract for a reduced rate for the luncheon. Any policy examples dealing with this type of situation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mindy Leadership is the ability to inspire creativity, emphasize ingenuity, and encourage collaboration while remaining respectful, compassionate, and gracious. Mindy A.
