I was being facetious. I would actually bet that you have (with Shook's money, but I'd bet). I consider the way that the security and certificate requirements of Exchange 2007 bring out domain naming issues to be very similar to how moving from NT4.0 to Windows 2000 showed a lot of poor DNS configurations for domains at that time. It would be nice if one of the checks run prior to install would flag the issue and let you know about the possible ramifications of not fixing it before running the install. Just a thought.

The changes to remove short-name resolution dependency on NetBIOS/WINS were breaking changes for Exchange 2007 renaming. In Exchange 2003, it was a relatively simple matter, as long as you made sure you checked EVERY attribute. That's no longer true. It's hard to do. Why do you think Exchange 2007 is so good at finding those issues? :-P Regards, Michael B. Sure wish I knew an MVP who could yell at Microsoft about this for me. ;-) From: Michael B. Google rendom, and the Exchange rename tool, on Microsoft's support site. It's probably easier to rename the domain. There is something to be said for "starting fresh" as well. Regards, Michael B. We are a college and we are changing out name thus the domain name will have to be changed. I am running AD on windows 2003 serve and exchange 2003 for email.. Is it best to setup a new domain and migrate users to that or try to rename the current one in place.
