I recently put together 2 systems for 2 editing company, both loved it,
it's not the fastest but it does the job for them, the config was
pentium 4 3.2ghz HT with 1gig 3200 RAM, 1 80gig c: 2 250gig (d and e), a
dvd dual layer burner, matrox x10 suit (with premiere pro 1.5, encore
dvd 1.5 and audition 1.5), roland ma8 speakers, regular keyboard,
optical mouse, a tv/monitor, and a 19" monitor, oh, nvidia video card
(the latest one)... They liked it so much they asked me to put another
one together... I think best is look for people that knows about video
editing in your town that can help you put a system together.

Subject: RE: [AP] What PC should I buy?

Believe it or not, I've been doing editing on my Sony VAIO laptop,
with 512 MB, and 80 GB. But, I want to buy a desktop that I can use
strictly for editing. Does anyone have any suggestions? I like
Sony VAIO. What do I need to put in this PC to really get the best
of Premiere that I can. Anyone....?

---Believe it or not, you need to GET AWAY from "proprietary" systems.
Check out http://www.boxxtech.com/asp/default.asp
or http://www.1beyond.com/ for starters.
If those are a little pricey for you, still consider staying away from
major manufacturer "systems" and focus instead on major motherboard
manufacturers instead.

The trouble with proprietary systems is that they introduce tech that
isn't always compatible across the board with anything and everything.
