I doubt that this is an "American" thing. I see it as more of a rude, selfish attempt by someone wishing to further their personal political agenda. I put these people right next to those people that come to your door, trying to sell you a copy of the "Watchtower", or the spammers that badger us with unsolicited adds. It's my understanding that this list is intended for the discussion of Premiere and related subjects, which politics is not. This list is intended to share and help each other, irrespective of someone's political affiliations. There are plenty of lists that discuss these subjects. If you want to discuss sex, religion, politics, or any other non-Premiere subject, I would suggest that you go there. I doubt that political discussions are appreciated by the majority of the members of this list, any more than we appreciate the unsolicited spam that occasionally slips onto the list.
