Maybe it's me and maybe I do things the hard way, but I have never used Image
Panning. I import a still photo, drag it to my timeline, and then in the
Effect Control panel place it on the screen where I want it and the starting
size (using size % )I want it. I then put keyframes at the beginning of the
control timeline with those settings. Then I drag the control in the Effect
panel to the end, and place location and size keyframes there as well, and
change the size % there. I do find, however, that a zoom more that 20% tends
to look unnatural. Also, the slower the zoom the better. Six seconds growing
about 15% seems fine.
Just thought I would add my two bits, and maybe it isn't worth that.

Make sure your photos are 720 x 540 when you drag them in. Select a
clip, enable keyframing, set some key frames, go into Image Pan and play
around until you get your desired effect. One thing that bugs me is
that in the Image Pan window, you have three options. It seems one
option will work with one photo, but then not another photo.

Subject: [AP] Slow zooming

Could somebody please explain to me how you would do one of those very
slow zooms on pictures that they use in montages? This is usually
done when putting together a montage of still pictures fading into
each other and each picture has a very slow zoom moving into it. Any
help would be greatly appreciated!!! This is for Adobe Premiere 6.5
