Sounds like your hard drive may be formatted as a FAT32 drive. Since
you say you have an Athlon 64, I'm guessing that you are running some
version of Windows XP. It's very easy to convert a drive to NTFS. Here
are the instructions from the Windows Help files...

*To convert a volume to NTFS from the command prompt:*
Open the Command Prompt window. To open a command prompt, click Start,
point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.

In the command prompt window, type
     convert drive_letter: /fs:ntfs

For example, typing "convert D: /fs:ntfs" would format drive D: with the
ntfs format.

I've done a conversion several times and never lost any data that was on
a drive. However, if you don't like to take any risks, you should
backup your drive before performing the operation.

Good luck,
Glen in Vegas
