Thanks Glen,
I am aware of the "msconfig" program but I don't know what has to be left
running. I hate to mess with it because WinXP seems to be so fragile I am
afraid I will mess it up and the stuff on this computer has been there so
long I don't want to lose it. Do you know what has to be left running?

I just ordered a new motherboard and cpu etc to rebuild one of my other
computers. I will dedicate that to this project.

Adobe must have some stock in Microsoft to make the software only run on
WinXP. I much prefer Win2000...

Thanks again.
Stan

Stan,
You can turn off the programs running in the background by running the
msconfig program. Click Start->Run then type msconfig in the window
that opens, and press Enter. Click on the Startup tab, and turn off the
programs you don't want running. Click OK, restart the computer if it
asks you to, and enjoy your leaner, meaner XP box.

Good luck,
Glen in Vegas
