Glen,

Thanks so much. That really helps.

Just out of curiosity, though, is it possible to save the preview and
conformed audio files with the project if you want to? My project is only
about 3 minutes long, but it would still be nice to not have to render the
whole thing if I needed to work on it again.

Thanks again!

Jean

Jean,
You've got the right idea. Don't save the preview or conformed audio
files. They're huge space-eating hogs. Plus, Premiere can re-create
them if you need to do any additional editing on the project. Just copy
the files from your CD to a new folder on your hard drive and when you
open the project, Premiere will ask you where all the files are, then
re-conform the audio, and rebuild the preview files when you render the
project. I'd also suggest that you use the "Create new Trimmed Project"
option. This will take all your video clips and create new, trimmed
clips with about a second or so of "handles" on both ends of the clip
(you can adjust how much "handle" you'll save in the "Create" window).
If you've got a lot of unused footage that you won't be using again,
this will reduce the size of the saved project tremendously.

Good luck,
Glen in Vegas
